Used this for a 22 day mountaineering expediton throughout the marron bells snowmass wilderness and raggeds wilderness. Plenty of topographic detail for navigating, but for even more detail for fine, short term navigation you should also always carry USGS quads.NOTE: the four pass loop is so well traveled and crowded that you will have no problem at all navigating with this map. I traveled mostly off trail in the more isolated parts of the mountains and there were a few times that a more detailed map would have saved me from steep Taulus sections and impassable waterfalls. But for the most part, this map worked great.

Best map of the area. I already had the first version from many years ago; this is updated. Kent Schulte is the best cartographer!
If doing Four Pass Loop, this is the one you want, not the NG one.
Detailed, rugged, and a joy to read and study. Used them on a 6 day, 5 pass loop around Maroon Peak. Excellent quality. Beware other maps that don't have trail mileage.
This is a great map of the area, I appreciate that it has the mileage along the marked trails. I also purchased the National Geographic #128 map, but plan to use this Sky Terrain map exclusively as it appears to be much better. I'm currently using this for trip planning, but will also carry it with me during the trip.
Great map. Got us through our three day backpacking trip near Crested Butte. We only got off the trail once (our own fault) but this helped us orient ourselves to quickly relocate where we needed to go. Good material and good color and detail!
We used this when hiking the four pass loop around Maroon Bells. It was more a backup to the GPS, but it was nice for planning, and nice to look at when at camp and remind ourselves of what was to come the next day. Well constructed. Good map design. Will use many times in the future for other trails in the area.
Great, detailed map. Includes mileage on all the trails. However it is HUGE. And heavy. I appreciate the waterproof/tear resistance, but I can't imagine ever carrying this while I'm actually backpacking. It's a great planning tool, just go to caltopo and print out the sections you actually need while hiking.
